Math Classroom Decoration and Bulletin Board Inspiration

The moment students step foot in a classroom they get an idea of what that class is all about. Let's try to get them excited about math with some meaningful classroom decorations.

I've gathered some ideas for bulletin boards, signs, and useful decorations that are perfect for middle and high school math classrooms.

EverydayMathBulletinBoard

Have you used math today?

This bulletin board shows students that math is a part of their everyday lives. The posters shows how math is involved in activities like music, baking, playing sports, and even getting ready. Thanks to Rachelle Albright for this photo!

Math is all about…

This bulletin board lets students know what math is all about! It is simple to assemble and includes phrases like "finding solutions," "predicting the future," and "working together." This picture is from Katherine Coppinger's 7th grade math classroom. The bright colors make this an eye-catching and meaningful decoration!

How to Rock at Math

This bulletin board lets students know how to be successful in math! Based on the actions in the Standards for Mathematical Practice, each poster describes an action students are expected to do in math class. Thanks to Maria @creatingmathminds for this photo.

Math Helps Us Bloom

A flower made out of polygons? Yes, please! Not only does this display have an inspirational message, but it will help students learn polygon names. This set works great on a bulletin board, classroom door, or even a window, as seen here in Allyson @blessedmathteacher's photo.

Vertical Number Line

I love math classroom decorations that build understanding. This vertical number line features tenth increments for working with decimals and helping students understand the relationships among rational numbers. Brooklyn (@brooklynsbrightest) is showing her number line off here in her classroom.

Only One of You Door

A decorated door is a great way to make students feel welcome the moment they first step into the classroom. This door says…

Welcome to math class, where we have

5 sides to a pentagon

4 quadrants on a coordinate plane

3 angles in a triangle

2 axes on a graph

But only ONE of you!

Thanks to Cindy @cindyyspice for this photo.

We are mathematicians.

Do your students see themselves as mathematicians? This bulletin board will help them see what else mathematicians are known as… such as problem solvers, mistake makers, collaborators, and learners. Thanks to Rachel @peloquinpedagogy for this photo.
